Ethics For Young Humans

Through ETHICAL community, young humans empower their ethical development, create life-long friendships, and stand up with care and courage for a GOOD WORLD through action. At Ethical Culture, where the cool-ness factor values KINDNESS and DEED, children bring out the best in one another, and thereby themselves... (variation on a quote by founder, Felix Adler.)

Children, families, home-based activists!

Join the Young Ethical Explorers in creating Home-Marches for the black lives matter movement! With index cards or small pieces of paper, make doll sized signs with your hopes for a just and humane future!

Write “black lives matter” and “peace and justice” "may black lives thrive" and let the dolls carry the message! Bring them all together with many signs and take a picture of your in-house child-sized protests!

Share your pictures on social media! This is a way to get children involved in the essential learning about fairness and justice, while still protecting their identities. Let them be part of the movement!

Corona AIDS Awareness WALK

Dear Ethical Community,

Visit:  https://ny.aidswalk.net/EthicalCulture/
to sponsor Young Ethical Explorers for the AIDS WALK NYC 2020!

For many years, the Young Ethical Explorers, with sponsorship by Ethical Culture community members,  have walked the AIDS walk in Central Park with thousands of diverse walkers.

This year, we are doing it differently... and again, we are welcoming your sponsorship!

Young Ethical Explorers are making CORONA AWARENESS CROWNS and RED RIBBONS FOR WELLNESS AWARENESS.... and each student is organizing their own families to "take an awareness walk with homemade crowns and ribbons.

CORONA is a beautiful word that means
C R O W N !

Empower yourself in the face of CORONA-VIRUS with
CORONA-SAFETY PRACTICES.
Children can make CREATIVE TOOLS
TO SUPPORT THEMSELVES IN THESE PRACTICES.

CORONA-AWARENESS is CORONA-POWER!

Through creative projects children build their placebo-power.

Children's imaginations have the ability to support
difficult things through playful power.

Playful-Placebo-Projects like this build awareness...
Awareness cultivates their pro-active compliance with the
wellness practices necessary in challenging times like this:
from social-distancing to hand-washing, to mask-wearing.

SAFTEY PRACTICES are the key for HEALTH in these Corona-times!

Make a CORONA AWARENESS-CROWN
...with a COVID-19 CARE-RIBBON

These corona-crowns will HUG YOUR SMART BRAIN while you  PARADE
with "social-distancing practices" around your home or your neighborhood!

We are creating our own personal crowns!
These "CORONAS" (crowns) will hug your smart brain!

The Corona VIRUS
is named after a
crown
because of its
spikey shape.

To make the crown:
       1. Fold the paper in half lengthwise.
       2. If you want to write the word CORONA on it --
or CORONA AWARENESS -- you can.
       3. Decorate it in special ways!

ADD A CORONA AWARENESS RIBBON TO YOUR CROWN.
An official color has not been declared,
but A WHITE RIBBON has been used by some communities.

You can make it yourself with a WHITE strip of paper. It's simple!

You can create caring messages, designs or pictures on it, if you want.

Various Awareness Ribbons are used for showing CARE for people who are affected by illnesses, and for those doctors and nurses taking care of them.  This "tradition". started in the early 1980's with the RED RIBBON for AIDS AWARENESS, and each year, millions of people use it to raise money in the June AIDS WALK NYC.

Covid19 is the illness created by CORONA VIRUS and many people are indeed suffering with this. To hold a symbol of our care for them, and for the safety of those caring for them,  you can wear a corona-awareness ribbon!

Meet the Pangolin

Pangolins have been removed from their natural habitats by PEOPLE and USED in many ways. But now, they are nearly extinct, and lead very fragile lives.
People have sold pangolins to other people for food and medicine, and put them in situations that endanger them. People have put pangolins into crowded markets with animals it was never meant to be near. There, it seems, is where it met bats.

The bats have lived for so very long with corona and they have pretty much kept it to themselves, and been immune to them.  But the pangolin got corona from the bats... and somehow that made it easier for people to get it from pangolins.  Now, people can get corona from each other.  That is why we are all masking and social distancing.

But it all comes from something we might all be able to relate to a little bit....
the very common human feeling that we should be able to have whatever we want.
We must change.
We must honor nature's boundaries.
There are great consequences to the way people grab from nature whatever we want.

Meet one pangolin and its helper

Cutie-pies!

A journey through their forests to understand their lives.

All about Pangolins

How vulnerable are Pangolins in corona times?
